The method involves selecting a media assignment target. A link to a media file is included in a telecommunication control unit (1) in response to the selection of the media assignment target. The media file is called up from a computer device by the control unit via a control unit interface that connects the control unit to the computer device, where the media file is called up by the control unit using the link placed in the control unit such that media from the media file are emittable to a user of telecommunication terminals (2, 3) without requesting the media file. The telecommunication terminals are wired terminals such as desk telephones and wireless terminals such as digital enhanced cordless telecommunication (DECT) telephones, mobile telephones, internet protocol (IP) telephones, personal digital assistants, personal computers (PCs) and tablet PCs. The telecommunication control unit is a server. The computer device is a media server (9). The link is a uniform resource location and a network path. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a non-transitory computer readable medium comprising a set of instructions for calling up a media file via a telecommunication system (2) a telecommunication system.
