An alcohol measuring device (10) comprises an intake for receiving a user exhalation and a gas sensor (15). A connector of the measuring device (10) is configured to be connected to a sound port (110) of a terminal (20) such as a cell phone, smart phone, tablet or a similar mobile device. The measuring device (10) is arranged to transfer measurement data via said connector (14) to said sound port (110) of the terminal in the form of analogue signals representing sound. Duplex communication over the sound port (110) is possible for transferring commands to the measuring device (10) from the terminal (20).
