1351981 Selective signalling COMPAGNIE INDUSTRIELLE DES TELECOMMUNICATIONS CIT-ALCATEL 30 June 1971 [30 June 1970] 30753/71 Heading G4H Apparatus for identifying circuit elements comprises matrix networks G having inputs which receive operative electrical potentials provided by elements E to be identified and outputs q, U, g connected to identification networks arranged to generate an identification code which indicates both a particular element and the matrix network G to which it is connected. Each matrix network (Fig. 2) comprises a diode matrix having twenty-five inputs E 00 ,..., E 24 connected in groups of five to respective outputs q 0 ,..., q 4 ; every fifth input is connected to an output U and all the inputs are connected to a common output g. Receipt of an operative potential on input E 00 of network G 00 produces outputs q 0 , U 0À5 and g 00 . Output U 0À5 energizes the windings U 0À1 , U 5À1 of magnetostatic relays U 0 , U 5 connected to electromechanical relays REU0, REU5 (Fig. 3) while q 0 energizes the winding mqo of a magnetostatic relay MQ 0 which in turn energizes a winding U 5À2 to cancel the effect of winding U 5À1 and thus inhibit relay U 5 . Therefore only relays U 0 , MQ 0 are energized; relay MQ 0 energizes an electro-mechanical relay D 0 which indicates a "tens" index of zero and relay U 0 indicates a "units" index of zero, whence element E 00 is indicated. Element E 0À5 would be indicated by outputs q 1 , U 0À5 to relays MQ 1 and U 0 , U 5 and by output g 00 : relay MQ 1 energizes D 0 and inhibits U 0 by means of a winding U 0À2 . Element E 10 yields outputs q 2 , U 0À5 to relays MQ 2 and U 0 , U 5 : MQ 2 energizes a relay D 1 to indicate a "tens" index of one, and inhibits relay U 5 . In this way any element Eij in a network G may be indicated; the particular network (e.g. G 00 ) is indicated by the output g 00 (Fig. 4) which energizes a relay DG0 or DG1 to indicate a "tens" index of 0 or 1 and also two relays E to provide an indication in a 2 out of 5 code for the "units" index. These relays operate electro-mechanical relays and switches (Fig. 5, not shown), when relays DG0, DG1 produce a "tens" output in 2/5 code, and the outputs may be connected directly to units making use of the information provided. The magnetostatic relays may be replaced by, e.g. toroidal magnetic cores. |
