A heat exchanger (7) is provided for fuel preheating, by which the heat energy of the cooling medium is transferred to the fuel (8). A controller (6) is provided for the heat exchanger, which is directly coupled to a regulation of the heater. The cooling medium is water with or without additives or oil.
