A cleaning appliance comprises a cyclonic separating apparatus (10, fig 16a) for separating dust from an airflow, the cyclonic separating apparatus (10, fig 16a) having at least one cyclone, a support structure 4 housing a motor and fan assembly for creating an airflow through the separating apparatus (10, fig 16a), the cyclonic separating apparatus (10, fig 16a) comprising a duct (110, fig 3) which directs air from the at least one cyclone towards the support structure 4, the support structure 4 further comprising a spigot 112 which projects from the support structure 4 and in use is docked within the duct (110, fig 3), the spigot 112 having at least one groove 118 and the duct (110, fig 3) having at least one projection (120, fig 16a), the appliance being arranged such that when the cyclonic separating apparatus (10, fig 16a) is docked on the support structure 4, the projection (120, fig 16a) is located within the groove 118. The side surface of the spigot 112 may include at least one mesh screen 124 through which air from the cyclonic separating apparatus (10, fig 16a) must pass before reaching the motor and fan assembly. |
