<p>Method of roll bonding a layer of stainless steel onto the surface of a sheet of Al or Al alloy comprises forming an exterior layer of pure al or the Al alloy removing approx. all the surface oxides mechanicall, heating the surfaces to above recrystallisation temp. of the Al alloy but below it m. pt and below the recrystallisation temp. of the stainless steel, bringing the surfaces into contact under a pressure to produce a reduction of 0.25-2%, then rolling a further 4.75-34.75% and finally annealing at 371-482 degrees C.</p> |
