<p>A dust separator/collector assembly for a vacuum cleaner comprises a housing 22, a first cyclone (42, fig 4) having an inlet 52 and outlet 60 for suction airflow, and an outlet 50 for separated dust, a plurality of second cyclones 80, 100, having respective inlets 112 arranged to receive air from the outlet 60 of the first cyclone, and further having respective air outlets 102 and outlets 82 for separated further dust, wherein the first cyclone is disposed in a lower region of the housing 22 and the second cyclones 80, 100 are disposed in an upper region of the housing 22 and wherein the first cyclone comprises a generally cylindrical cyclone body 44 having a tangential inlet duct 82 for suction airflow at a lower part of the cyclone body 44, and an upwardly extending outlet 60 for suction airflow leading to the inlets 112 of the second cyclone. The housing preferably includes a passage (32, fig 2) exterior of the housing 22 for collecting dust discharged from the second cyclones 80, 100.</p> |
