PURPOSE: An emergency system for power steering apparatus is provided to maintain operation of a power handle in case an engine stops or an oil pump fails while a vehicle is traveling, thereby preventing accidents in an emergency situation as well as facilitating steering. CONSTITUTION: An emergency system for power steering apparatus comprises a first oil tank(50), a second oil tank(150), a first oil pump(51), a second oil pump(151), a steering gear box(55), a power cylinder(56), a sub motor(152), a controller, and solenoid valves(57-59). The first and second oil tanks store oil. The first oil pump is operated by an engine and pumps oil in the first oil tank to generate fluid pressure. The second oil pump is operated by the sub motor and sends oil stored in the second oil tank into the steering gear box. The steering gear box increases handle steering force by the fluid pressure generated by the first oil pump. The power cylinder is connected to the steering gear box to assist handle steering. The sub motor generates driving force. The controller controls operation of the sub motor. The solenoid valves operate based on received control signals from the controller. |
