The present invention relates to a method for predicting surface defects of a slab, the method comprising: a step of obtaining the poise of mold powder injected onto the upper end of molten steel to lubricate a mold and a solidifying cell during continuous casting and the casting speed (m/min) of the continuous casting; a step of calculating an index of generated pinholes by using the poise of the mold powder and the casting speed (m/min); a step of calculating the generation ratio of the pinholes to a slab; and a step of determining the quality of the casted slab by comparing the generation ratio of the pinholes with a reference value.
