Provided is an optical network system which comprises an upper network device, a lower network device, and a plurality of network devices for transmission which connect the upper network device and the lower network device through each independent optical link. The lower network device performs switching in order to transmit and receive an optical signal via the optical link of a reserve line when a failure occurs in at least one among the optical link used as a main line, an optical interface device associated with the main line in the upper network device, and the network device for transmission associated with the main line.
