The upper end of the stocking is provided with an extenson cut away on the inside region and formed from a normal stretch knit. The upper end of the extension carries a half-belt for attachment to another half-belt of a stocking on the other leg. The stocking is self supporting and the surgical part of the stocking extends over the complete thigh.
