An alkali-soluble resin, a method for preparing the resin, a photosensitive resin composition containing resin, and a cured product prepared by curing the composition are provided to improve the solubility in an alkali developer and the crosslinking density after curing. An alkali-soluble resin has a carbonic acid residue and a polymerizable unsaturated group and is represented by the formula 1, wherein R1, R2, R3 and R4 are independently H, a C1-C5 alkyl group, a halogen atom or a phenyl group; R5 is H or a methyl group; X is -CO-, -SO2-, -C(CF3)2-, -CH2-, -C(CH3)2-, -O-, a 9.9-fluorenylene group or a direct bond; Y is a tetravalent carbonic acid residue; G is a substituent having a polymerizable double bond and a carboxyl group represented by the formula 2; Z is represented by the formula 3; R8 is a C3-C6 aliphatic hydrocarbon group; R6 is a divalent alkylene group; R7 is H or a methyl group; q is 0 or 1; L is a divalent or trivalent carbonic acid residue; and p is 1 or 2. |
