PURPOSE: A welding machine and an operating method thereof are provided to constantly obtain the desired matching gap or the overlapping amount. CONSTITUTION: A welding machine comprises a clamp, a cutting means (110), a gap sensor (120), a clamp location controller (130), a welding means, and a rolling means. The clamp clamps a strip (140). When the uncoiling and coiling of the preceding strip is completed, the cutting means cuts each of the preceding strip rear end and the latter strip front end. The gap sensor measures each of the cut amounts of the region which is cut by the cutting. The clamp location controller controls the location of a second clamp which clamps a first clamp and the latter strip front end. The welding means welds the cut region of the preceding strip rear end and the latter strip front end. The rolling means uncoils the latter strip and then coils again. |
