The present invention relates to an apparatus for protecting a transmission tower from lighting and a management system using the same. The apparatus of the present invention comprises: a lightning rod which is provided on a transmission tower to induce lightning to flow thereinto; a down conductor which provides a path such that an impulse current of lightning flowing into the lightning rod moves; a ground which distributes the impulse current of lightning transmitted through the down conductor into the earth to become extinct; and a lightning protection controller which detects the impulse current of lightning transmitted through the down conductor, counts the number of lightning, and output the counting result. Thus, a transmission tower can be safely protected from back flashover by promptly discharging lightning through a separate down conductor. The reliability of a lightning prevention apparatus with respect to lightning can be determined by comparing the number of lightning and the size of a lightning current with a random reference value. A lightning prevention apparatus can be rapidly maintained and repaired by providing information for determining the reliability of the lightning prevention apparatus if lightning flows into a random transmission tower.
