The method for diagnosing diabetic osteopathy in the patients with diabetes mellitus type 2 provides for quantitative ultrasonometry of the bone tissues of the limbs with T test calculating for three areas in non-dominating limbs: the proximal phalange of the middle finger of the hand, the distal division of the one third of radius and the middle of tibia. The index of osteoporosis risk is calculated. For calculation of index of osteoporosis risk in radius (area 1) and tibia (area 2), α1 is set as 0.541, α2 as 0.467. For calculation of index of osteoporosis risk in radius (area 1) and phalange (area 2), α1 is set as 0.559, α2 as 0.456. For calculation of index of osteoporosis risk in phalange (area 1) and tibia (area 2), α1 is set as 0.481, α2 as 0.522. When index of osteoporosis risk is within –1.0 and –2.5 SD, the state of the bone is verified as osteopenia. When index of osteoporosis risk is inferior to –2.5 SD, the osteoporosis is suggested. |
