A portable terminal and a method for controlling power thereof are provided to use the transmission power between a terminal body and an external module that is mounted at the terminal body detachably in order to reduce the power consumption of the portable terminal. It is sensed whether or not an ear set mounted at a terminal body is sensed(S10). When information is applied to a first controller by making the ear set be separated from the terminal body, the first controller sets up the transmission power of a first short-range wireless communication module as a first reference value(S21). When the information is applied to the second short-range wireless communication module, the controller sets up the transmission power of the second short-range wireless communication module as a third reference value(S22). When the correspondent information is applied to the first controller by making the ear set be installed at the terminal body, the first controller sets up the transmission power of the first short-range wireless communication module as the second reference value that is lower than the first reference value(S31). |
