Cpds (I): (where R1 and R2 are H, halogen or 1-6C alkyl, R3R4R5 are H, 1-12C alkyl, X is a bond, -CH2CH2-, -CH2CH2CH2-, -CH=CH- or -CH=C-Hal and Hal is Cl or Br) are prepd by reacting a reactive ester of a dibenzo cyclo-alkene or alkane with imidazole, or an alkali metal or Ag salt thereof or by catalytic reduction of (I, X=CH=C-Hal) to give (I, X=-CH=CH-).
