Disclosed is an emergency notification system capable of compensating a position of a vehicle and a method of compensating an error for the position of a vehicle. According to the system and method, a coordinate data, for the position of a vehicle calculated from a GPS module in a telematics unit, is transferred to a mobile terminal through an audio head unit to compensate a map matching and then provides the audio head unit to the telematics unit again. Therefore, the telematics unit minimizes the error and notifies a center even though the error of the position coordinate for a vehicle calculated by the GPS module and an actual position coordinate is large.
