Disclosed is a rice cooker of improved reliability and safety able to prevent the backflow of cooling water. The rice cooker includes: a steam treating tank (10) which is detachably disposed on the front face of a rice cooker main body (1) and which houses cooling water for condensing the steam that is generated during the operation of the rice cooker; a steam conduit (7) which is arranged in a lid (3) which is pivotably provided on the rice cooker main body and which allows the steam treating tank to communicate with the interior of the rice cooker main body when the lid is closed on the rice cooker main body; a communication pipe (15) which is provided in an upper lid (12) of the steam treating tank and which allows the steam conduit and a plurality of vents (12a) that allow communication of the interior of the tank with the outside air to communicate with the interior of the tank; a through-hole (19) which is provided in one side of the communication pipe in a position above a predetermined level of the cooling water so as to pass through the communication pipe and an upper space of the steam treating tank; and a check valve (20) which is provided in one side of the communication pipe and which closes the through-hole when the pressure within the rice cooker main body is greater than the atmospheric pressure, and opens the through-hole when the pressure within the rice cooker main body is less than the atmospheric pressure. |
