The present invention relates to a propulsion device for a ship comprising: a main propeller coupled to the stern to generate propulsion force; an auxiliary propeller having a rotary surface relatively smaller than the main propeller and coupled to the rear of the main propeller; a rudder installed in the rear of the auxiliary propeller to steer the sailing direction of a ship; and rudder nozzles coupled to both sides of the rudder so as to surround the center part of the rudder. By installing the rudder nozzle at the center part of the rudder and the auxiliary propeller at the rear of the propeller, the propulsion device for a ship according to the present invention can make the auxiliary propeller compress the wake of the propeller to introduce the wake of the propeller into the rudder and can allow the wake flowing in the rudder to pass the rudder nozzle, thereby highly increasing thrust.
