The present invention relates to a heavy metal adsorption and desorption composition comprising red mud which is industrial waste and limestone which is a sedimentary rock mineral of easy supply and demand as active ingredients, and a method for processing the same in a water environment. The composition according to the present invention enables heavy metals to be effectively removed in a mixed heavy metal solution environment and when it is applied in an actual sea water condition, there is no difference in the heavy metal removal effect. A processing method of red mud which is industrial waste and applicability for alternate uses of limestone are shown therefrom, therefore resource effectiveness through resource recycling can be improved and environmental pollution can be prevented.
