The device has a fluid actuator (3') placed opposite an orifice in a wall of an enclosure i.e. boot of a vehicle, and a temperature sensor placed inside the boot. The fluid actuator is operated when the temperature in the boot exceeds a given temperature, so as to introduce cool fresh air from the outside of the boot into the boot through the orifice, where the cool fresh air circulates in contact with the battery before discharging naturally out of the boot through the orifice in the wall of the boot.
