PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent retrieval processing from taking a long time even if a new image is added while retrieving a specific image including a specific subject area from a plurality of images.SOLUTION: A CPU 101 determines whether subject retrieval information showing whether an image is a candidate image being a candidate for the specific image exists in management information, and retrieves the candidate for the specific image by comparing feature quantity data of the subject detected in the image with feature quantity data of a subject dictionary with reference to the subject dictionary with the feature quantity data of the subject registered unless the subject retrieval information exists. On the other hand, if the subject retrieval information exists, the CPU retrieves the candidate for the specific image on the basis of the subject retrieval information. |
