Provided is an organic electroluminescent element having a long service life, which is provided with at least a light emitting layer between a positive electrode and a negative electrode, and wherein the light emitting layer contains a first host material that is composed of a triphenylene derivative having a specific structure, a second host material that is composed of a compound having both of a carbazole derivative structure and a nitrogen-containing heteroaromatic ring, and a light emitting material.
