PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: an alkali battery separator which allows the improvement in the shieldability to prevent the internal short circuit attributed to a metal oxide dendrite, etc., and the discharge performance, and which meets the requirement of liquid-holding property; and an alkali battery arranged by use of the separator.SOLUTION: The alkali battery separator is composed of a wet type nonwoven fabric having a multilayer structure which comprises an alkali-resistive cellulose fiber, an alkali resistance synthetic fiber, and a binder component. The alkali battery separator has an average pore diameter of 10 μm or smaller, which is an index showing the shieldability of the wet type nonwoven fabric, and has a liquid-holding rate of 400% or larger. The alkali battery is arranged by use of the separator. |
