The device has a sensor device of a vessel (10) for generating the corresponding sensor signals, which are used for determining the respective monitoring. The units are provided for receiving the sensor signals for another sensor device of another vessel. The surrounding of the former vessel is detected by the device based on the sensor signals generated by sensor device, and on a part of the other sensor signals received by the receiving unit. The receiving units are formed for receiving the sensor signals wirelessly, particularly through radio. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a method for detecting and monitoring an environment of a vessel by a sensor device; and (2) a computer program for execution on a computing unit of a detection and monitoring device.
