<p>An embodiment of the present invention provides a method for metadata processing, which relates to the field of data processing technology and can improve the writing efficiency of the metadata. Said method comprises: obtaining the total number of the metadata operations stored on a catalog file and the metadata operations which has not been stored on the catalog file, and obtaining the number of the valid metadata at the same time; deleting said metadata operations stored on the catalog file when the ratio between the total number of the metadata operations stored on the catalog file and the metadata operations which has not been stored on the catalog file and the number of said valid metadata exceeds a set threshold, and continuously storing adding operations of said valid metadata on the catalog file address; otherwise, continuously storing the metadata operations which has not been stored on the catalog file on the catalog file address according to an operation time sequence.
