PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic document feeder which can realize switching between a straight feeding passage and a curved feeding passage with a simple composition, and prevent increase of the size and manufacturing cost, and to provide an image reader and an image forming apparatus provided with the automatic document feeder.SOLUTION: The ADF (automatic document feeder) 4 includes a paper discharge tray 23 which is formed so as to rotate between a discharge position where documents fed on the straight feeding passage 24 is discharged and a saving position where saved from the discharge position, a switching claw 29 is switched from a second switching position to a first switching position in conjunction with movement of the discharge tray 23 from the saving position to the paper discharge position.
