Cast iron piston rings - for combustion and steam engines - and compressors

The piston rings are produced by sand casting a grey cast iron melt contg. 4.0-5.0% Si, 0.6-1.2% Mn and 0.2-0.7% P, which has been treated with Bi, the cast structure being composed of cementite, perlite, ledeburite and P eutectic. The rings are then subjected to a heat treatment.
