PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To establish preferable electrical connection and minimize a heat load in a conduction cooled superconducting magnet.SOLUTION: A current lead assembly (10) includes a vacuum chamber (12) having a through hole (20) to enable a retractable current lead (18) having a retractable contact (17) to penetrate within the vacuum chamber (12). A superconducting magnet (14) is arranged inside the vacuum chamber (12) and includes a magnet lead (34). A current contact (32) is arranged inside the vacuum chamber (12) beneath the through hole (20) and is coupled to the magnet lead (34) via a thermal connector (36). The current contact (32) is supported by a thermal isolation support structure (38) coupled to an inside wall of the vacuum chamber (12). An actuator assembly (26) is provided to contact the retractable contact (17) with the current contact (32) at ambient temperature inside of the thermal isolation support structure (38). |
