PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device for a vehicle capable of minimizing the load which a parking mechanism takes charge of when an automatic transmission is switched into a parking state if a parking range is selected during driving.SOLUTION: A shift-by-wire CU 30 constituting a control device 1 of a vehicle includes: a brake control unit 31 for outputting a brake request signal to a brake CU 40 and/or an electric parking brake CU 50 to drive a brake 45 and/or a parking brake mechanism 55 if a parking switch 20a is pressed during driving of the vehicle; a computation unit 32 for determining a rotational deceleration of a parking gear 18; an operation start timing setting unit 32 for setting a start timing of parking operation on the basis of the rotational deceleration of the parking gear 18 and a time required for the parking operation; and a drive unit 34 for starting to drive a shift-by-wire actuator 11 to perform the parking operation at the start timing.
