PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel method for manufacturing pentadiene alone or copolymer, and to provide a polymer.SOLUTION: A method for manufacturing includes a polymerization process that polymerizes pentadiene by using a polymerization catalyst composition containing a metallocene complex comprising a central metal M which is scandium (Sc), a ligand Cpcomprising a substituted cyclopentadienyl derivative, a monoanionic ligands Qand Qand a neutral Lewis base L, and an ionic compound comprising a non-coordinating anion and cation as a catalyst.
