1,272,675. Cleaning headlights, &c. ETABS. MUNDIAL. June 27, 1969 [June 28, 1968], No. 32751/69. Heading A4F. A device for cleaning headlight or porthole glasses or windows comprises a wiper blade 24 supported at its ends by two pins 22, 23, at least one of which is rotatable to move the blade over the glass surface 20, the blade being resilient and the length of the blade being greater than the distance between the pins. The pins are mounted in a stirrup 21 and when not in use, the blade lies adjacent the circumference of the glass. Members 28-30 attached to a leaf-spring 27 may be provided to press the blade against the glass. A composite blade in which the portions of the blade are pivoted together is described for use with rectangular glasses. The blade may be constructed in several ways, for example it may comprise a rubber or plastics strip fixed to a metal backing strip or a helically coiled spring surrounded by a tubular cover of rubber or plastics. Metal wire springs may be inserted in the coiled spring to press the blade against the glass. |
