PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide methods for modulating an immune response in a subject.SOLUTION: Methods and compositions for modulating an immune response in a subject are provided. Methods include administering to the subject a composition comprising an effective amount of a lymphocyte differentiation factor (e.g., protein A (PA)) sufficient to modulate the immune response. Compositions include a lymphocyte differentiation factor (e.g., protein A (PA)) in an amount less than 1 μg. Also provided are methods for reducing an inflammatory response in a subject with or at risk of an inflammatory response, including administering to the subject a composition comprising an effective amount of protein A (PA) sufficient to reduce an inflammatory response. |
