A towel having at least one edge portion that comprises a portion of a zipper fastening system wherein first and second opposed edges of the towel are comprised of corresponding first and second complementary portions of a zipper fastening system. In use a plurality of the towels are joined edge to edge to provide a large, sand free area for enjoyment by a number of beachgoers. Each towel may bear a pattern which is a portion of a larger pattern whereby the towels once fastened together present the larger pattern. Figure 5 |
