PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic apparatus in which performance including reduction of power consumption and quality can be improved and convenience can also be improved by performing driving corresponding to a connected external device and to provide a driving method of the electronic apparatus.SOLUTION: A projector 1 as an electronic apparatus includes: a connector 10 to which a media player 100 different in an external shape is integrally connected by attachment/detachment; first and second sensors 11 and 12 for detecting the external shape of the connected media player 100; and an operation control section for performing an operation corresponding to the media player 100 different in the outer shape in response to a detection result of the first and second sensors 11 and 12. The projector also includes: a connection detection section for detecting connection of the media player 100 to the connector 10; and a shape discrimination section for discriminating a difference of the outer shape of the media player 100. The operation control section performs control to supply power corresponding to the connected media player 100.
