The present invention relates to a method for storing and searching data in an electronic device and more specifically, to an apparatus and method for searching data in an electronic device through a contact application. The method for searching the data in the electronic device includes the steps of: generating and storing tagging data to which tag information is added in a data storage process by executing a first application; updating a tagging data table that is information about the tagging data; and searching and outputting the tagging data including the same tag information as a search word if the search word for searching the data is inputted after a second application is executed.
