<p>A telemetry system 22 on a vehicle 18 includes a vehicle identifier; a location sensor; a loading sensor; and a data transmitter. Ideally the vehicle can load a waste receptacle such as a skip. The vehicle identifier could be a unique reference number in the systems memory; the location sensor could be a satellite navigation system; and the data could be transmitted via radio or mobile phone. The loading sensor may include a reader to scan an RFID chip, bar code or QR code on the skip when it is in range, ie during loading. There may also be an indicator to inform the user whether or not the skip is on the road. This arrangement could be associated with a data processing system to determine whether the detected skip is prebooked and then confirm that the driver can collect the skip; or to charge the vehicle operator. The determination of whether or not a skip is permitted could also take into account the location of the skip and compare this to the location as recorded by GPS.</p> |
