<p>A method, apparatus and. computer program are provided for sharing one or more identifiers. The method and apparatus may detect a first identifier identifying a communication device, among a plurality of communication devices, in response to at least one communication with the communication device. The method and apparatus may utilize the first identifier to determine a Cell Radio Network Temporary Identifier (CRNTI) of the communication device. The method and apparatus may assign the plurality of communication devices to respective time slots of a System Frame Number cycle to enable the communication devices to share the CRNTI during the respective time slots of the System Frame Number (SFN) cycle. The system may be used where a large number of machine type communication (MTC) devices are present. MTC devices are likely to transmit small amounts of data infrequently and the above method allows greater utilization of the limited CRNTIs available.</p> |
