Method and apparatus for noise reduction in an imaging system

The invention provides a method for integrating images relating to a plurality of captured images of a target region of an object. The method comprises following steps of:
- obtaining reference morphological data relating to one or more of the captured images;
- for each of one or more of the images to be integrated:
(i) comparing morphological data relating to the morphology of the image with the reference morphological data to determine a relative geometric transformation of the image with respect to the geometry of the reference morphological data;
(ii) generating a corrected image by performing on the image a transform that relates to the determined relative geometric transformation; and
- integrating two or more images from the one or more generated corrected images and any image related to the reference morphological data.
