Provided are a signal processing device for detecting a speech recognition target section for speech recognition and a method thereof. The signal processing device comprises a speech extraction part extracting a first speech recognition target section by removing noise from input signals; an echo removing part extracting a second speech recognition target section by removing a section in which an echo related to the signal processing device is removed from the input signals; and a calculation part determining an overlapping section of the first speech recognition target section and the second speech recognition target section as the speech recognition target section for speech recognition.
