<p>An electronic device is protected from unauthorized access by use of a security wrap 20 having a security screen 30 comprising a conductor formed in a serpentine pattern connected to an alarm circuit of the electronic device. The conductor pattern is chosen from a plurality of predetermined patterns. By providing multiple patterns it is more difficult to identify where it might be possible to drill or cut the wrap by inspecting one pattern. The security wraps have the same outward appearance but are formed with different conductor patterns. The security wrap may be formed with a second conductor layer the conductor layers having different patterns (Fig. 5). The security wrap is manufactured by printing a pattern of conductive ink onto a substrate, e.g. a flexible plastic sheet, and applying adhesive to fix the wrap to an electronic device, the pattern being chosen from a set of pre-approved patterns. Alternatively the conductor pattern is formed by etching a flexible printed circuit. Adhesion modifiers may be applied to the substrate so that the conductors are broken (Fig. 6) if attempts to remove the wrap are made.</p> |
