PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent excessive power consumption when merging oil delivered from an assist pump. SOLUTION: This control device for a hybrid construction machine includes: a pair of first and second main pumps MP1, MP2; first and second circuit systems connected to the first and second main pumps and composed of a plurality of operating valves 2-6, 19-22; main selector valves 14, 29 provided between the first and second circuit systems and the first and second main pumps; and the assist pump AP connected to the first and second main pumps through the main selector valves. The main selector valves connected to the first and second circuit systems are so configured that in a normal position, main passages a connected to the first and second circuit systems connected to the first and second main pumps and confluent passages d merging oil delivered from the assist pump to the first and second main pumps are opened, and in a switching position, the main passages are opened and the confluent passages are closed.
