<p>A computer implemented method for finding at least one data item of a plurality of data items (11) stored in a data storage, comprising the steps of creating metadata for the at least one data item, linking the metadata to the at least one data item, indexing the metadata of the plurality of data items, obtaining a search term, searching the indexed metadata with regard to the search term, and providing data items of the plurality of data items being linked to retrieved metadata retrieved by the searching of the indexed metadata. The method further comprises the steps of providing a metadata engine (1) for the creating of the metadata for the at least one data item and the linking of the metadata to the at least one data item, which comprises a connector framework having at least one connector (2) being connectable to an external information system (9), extracts information from the at least one external information system (9) via the at least one connector, defines an abstraction layer based on an ontology representing the extracted information by topics and relations between the topics, and specifies the metadata with the topics associated to the at least one data item according to the abstraction layer.</p> |
