An electrochemical device of the present invention comprises: a complex separator; cathode which is facing against a first porous coating layer; and anode which is facing against a second porous coating layer. The complex separator comprises: a porous substrate having pores; the first porous coating layer coated on a side of the porous substrate, comprising a mixture of inorganic particles and binder polymers; and the second porous coating layer coated on the other side of the porous substrate, comprising a mixture of inorganic particles and binder polymers. The thickness of the first porous coating layer is thicker than the thickness of the second porous coating layer. The electrochemical device has excellent thermal stability and improved cycle characteristic.
