1287875 Rotary mixing member INTERCOLE AUTOMATION Inc 29 Jan 1970 [28 Feb 1969] 4431/70 Heading B1C Cooling fluid passages 40a, b, c are beneath the working surfaces of blades such as 32 on a rotary mixing member 14 and follow the surface contour thereof. The passages are connected in series and have an inlet conduit 45 communicating with a supply pipe 24 supported in the member by a spider 56. The fluid is returned to a central cavity 28 through outlets 46. Fluid is also supplied to the cavity through apertures 54, Fig. 4 (not shown) in the pipe. The pipe may rotate with the member, and is connected to stationary supply and exhaust conduits through a rotary union (26) Fig. 1 (not shown). Alternatively, the pipe may be stationary relative to the members. The member is one of a contra-rotating pair in a chamber (12) for mixing rubber, plastics material &c. The passages are formed by covering grooves which have been milled in the blade surface, by strips 48 which are welded in place.
