1288239 Sulphur-containing polyalkylene glycols HENKEL & CIE GmbH 22 Sept 1969 Heading C3R [Also in Divisions C2 and C5] Novel compounds of formula where R 1 is a C 1-22 aliphatic (including cycloaliphatic) residue which may be substituted, R 2 and R 3 are H or C 1-21 aliphatic (including cycloaliphatic) residues which may be substituted, the total number of carbon atoms in R 1 , R 2 and R 3 being 4 to 22, A is a C 2-4 bivalent aliphatic residue, the two residues A being the same or different, n is 0-50, m is 1-50 and n + m is 1- 50, are prepared by reacting a C 6-24 #-hydroxymercaptan with one or more C 2-4 alkylene oxides in the molar ratio of 1 : 1 to 1 : 50. Uses.-Surface-active compounds.
