The present invention relates to a hot and cold water dispenser and a sterilization method for the hot and cold water dispenser. The hot and cold water dispenser includes: a cold water tank in which cold water is stored; a hot water tank which is placed below the cold water tank; a guide pipe which connects the cold water tank and the hot water tank for water to flow between the two; a circulation pump which is placed in the guide pipe and moves the water inside the hot water tank to the cold water tank; a drain pipe which is installed in the cold water tank and discharges the water inside the cold water tank to the outside; and a control unit which discharges the hot water inside the cold water tank through the drain pipe once the sterilization of the cold water tank is completed.
