1318455 Glycerin and its monoesters DEUTSCHE GOLD-UND SILBER-SCHEIDEANSTALT 28 Aug 1970 [30 Aug 1969] 41445/70 Heading C2C A monoester of glycerin of the formula where R<SP>1</SP> is a C 1-5 alkyl radical, is prepared by reacting an allyl ester of the formula with a percarboxylic acid of the formula R<SP>2</SP>.CO.COH where R<SP>2</SP> is a C 1-5 alkyl radical, in the presence of water in an amount of up to 10 mols per mol of percarboxylic acid and optionally a carboxylic acid of the formula R<SP>2</SP>COOH, preferably at 40-90‹ C., and optionally, if desired, subjecting the glycerine monoester after separation of unreacted allyl ester, water and carboxylic acid to alcoholysis, e.g. with methanol, or aqueous hydrolysis to obtain glycerine. Preferably R<SP>1</SP> and R<SP>2</SP> are each a methyl radical. |
