PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an Ni saving type austenitic stainless steel having excellent formability such as bulging properties and further having excellent season cracking sensitivity though it being an Ni saving type component system in which the blending ratio of Ni is 4 mass% or lower.SOLUTION: The Ni saving type austenitic stainless steel has a composition comprising, by mass, C≤0.08%, N≤0.08%, Si≤1.0%, 7.0%≤Mn≤10.0%, 14.0%≤Cr≤16.0%, 2.0%≤Ni≤4.0% and 1.0%≤Cu≤2.5%, and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities, and an MdMn value followed for MdMn=551-462([%C]+[%N])-9.2[%Si]-19.1[%Mn]-13.7[%Cr]-29([%Ni]+[%Cu])-18.5[%Mo] satisfies -45≤MdMn≤-5. |
